Oh where to begin. This weekend I visited the Desire jewellery and silversmithing fair in Chelsea. I was seriously floored by all the beautiful designs that were in abundance.

There is so much talent here in the UK especially for UK designers, that you really don't have to go far to find something amazing and unique to wear.

I was in jewellery heaven!

So many stunning designs, techniques and shapes all rolled into one exhibition.

A must for anyone that loves jewellery and anything beautiful.

From everyday objects created in sterling silver, which really made my mind boggle by the way, to your humble ring.

Though I have to say some of the rings there were not exactly your "humble" ring. The variety and colours were overwhelming, along with the amazing displays that had been created by the designers. You couldn't help but stop to admire the shine and sparkle!

It was so tempting to buy and spend my hard earned pounds, but when you see the cost of some of the pieces, you really do understand why they are there.

They weren't there just to sell their jewellery but also to sell their name. Make themselves known to the public, that they are the perfect choice for your jewellery needs.

The techniques used to create such beauty were equally mind-blowing. Like this stall. All the colours created by this designer were made using different electricity voltage!

The effect was simply beautiful.

I had a chat with a number of designers on the techniques that they had used to create the wonderful pieces on their stalls.

For a newbie in silversmithing, I was soaking up all the advice like a sponge. Everyone I spoke was so receptive and encouraging. Offering me really valuable tips and advice on some of the techniques that I was a little apprehensive about using. But it really is as one designer said to me "you go where the silver takes you!" I have often done that. Started a design with one idea but for some reason when you work with silver, you end up creating something completely different and unique.

Using that inspiration, really keeps me motivated to create unique pieces.

Maybe one day, I could too exhibit the jewellery that I make too. But for me to get to that level, I need to dig really deep to uncover the designs that would keep customers interested and eager to part with their hard earned money.

Some new designs that I am working on

And of course that is how it should be. Why settle for mass produced jewellery as you find in your high street stores.

There is a different pleasure you get when buying something unique that isn't being sold in your high street Pandora, or Accessorize!

It's definitely given me the inspiration to get cracking on some of the ideas that I have swimming around in my brain!

There is another Trade show coming up in Winchester that I will be visiting in April. So can't wait to find out what is on offer there.

I just love walking around and asking the designers how they came about the designs that they have produced.

It really does give you a great feeling that anything is achievable if you put your mind to it!
